The brief

A first-floor practice in an office building whose equipment had shown earth faults several times and which needed an earth report to renew its licence. The building’s old earth pit had been put in years ago, its connection was buried under the car park’s concrete floor, and the first measurement showed a high figure.

How it was done

  1. 01 Existing earth resistance measured by the three-point method and the initial figure recorded
  2. 02 Multi-rod system designed instead of a deep pit, given the high water table
  3. 03 Four copper-bonded rods driven at proper spacing in the front planting bed and tied with bare copper
  4. 04 Buried joints exothermically welded, with an inspection box for future measurements
  5. 05 Dedicated earth conductor run to the practice board and the earth bar bonded
  6. 06 Final measurement and a written report with date, method and result

The outcome

Earth resistance came down to a low, stable figure and the equipment earth faults stopped. The written report went into the licence renewal file, and the inspection box makes periodic re-testing simple.

Describe the job and I will take it from there

One short call is usually enough to establish what the work is, how long it takes and roughly what it costs.

Call for an accurate estimate. If I am on a job and miss the call, I ring back as soon as I am off the ladder.
