The first call
A few minutes on the phone establishes what the job is, how urgent it is, and whether a site visit is even needed. A good number of questions get answered there and then.

Survey and measurement
The site visit is done with instruments: board condition, supply capacity, earthing, and the routes that are actually available. The result is a real scope, not a figure off the top of my head.

Estimate and schedule
An itemised estimate with a schedule against it. If there is a cheaper option that is genuinely enough for your situation, you hear about that too.

The work
Work runs to the plan, the site gets left clean each day, and any change of direction is agreed with you before it happens rather than after.

Testing and handover
Insulation testing, earth testing and a functional check of every circuit. You receive the single-line diagram, the circuit schedule and the test figures, and the work gets explained.

Which areas do you cover?

How do I get a price?
Call and describe the job. A good many jobs can be given a ballpark on the phone. For larger work such as a full rewire, a solar installation or a switchboard build, a site visit is needed, and after it you get an estimate itemised into materials and labour.
Do you take emergency calls at night or on holidays?
Yes. For loss of power, a burning smell, arcing in a board, or anything carrying a risk of shock or fire, call at any hour. If you can smell burning or see smoke, switch off at the main isolator first and call second.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. The workmanship is guaranteed, and a defect in work that was done gets put right at no charge. Installed equipment carries its own manufacturer warranty, which is handed to you at completion. The guarantee period varies by job type and is agreed clearly before work starts.
Do you supply the materials or do I buy them?
Either works. If I supply, you see the list and the prices before anything is bought. If you prefer to buy yourself, you get a precise specification to shop from. The one thing not open to negotiation is the grade of cable and protective devices: substandard material does not go in.
