Workshop distribution and control board, Marjaghal

The brief

A workshop with several motors, whose old board had neither discrimination nor adequate ventilation, and where loose terminations had been heating the busbars. The bill also showed a power factor penalty.

How it was done

1. 01 Prospective fault current calculated and breaking capacity selected above it
2. 02 Discrimination set between the main device and all fourteen outgoing ways
3. 03 Every termination torqued to the manufacturer’s figure with a torque wrench
4. 04 Fans and filters provided to match the calculated heat dissipation
5. 05 Stepped capacitor bank fitted to correct the power factor
6. 06 All conductors numbered and ferruled, with the drawing fixed inside the door

The outcome

A fault on one way no longer stops the whole workshop, and the power factor penalty came off the bill. The board was handed over with its drawing and parts list.
